Hi my name is Andru Griffin, I am 10 years old and in fifth grade. I was born in Texas but moved to Branson, Missouri, when I was 2 years old. Growing up as the son of a local entertainer in Branson, I have been around live entertainment since I was very small. My parents said, as I got older, I began dancing more and more around the house, in the grocery store and even at school, so they enrolled me in my first dance class when I was 6 years old. I LOVED IT! I began dancing competitively the next year, and attended my first Tremaine convention 2 years ago. I take classes for many styles of dance but my styles of choice are hip hop and contemporary.
Dance Branson School of the Arts has become my home away from home. I always look forward to attending classes and spending time with my dance family. I am so thankful for Miss Tonya and the rest of the teachers at DBSA for always pushing me to do my best. Thank you to my mom, dad, grandparents and the rest of my family for always being so encouraging. When I am not dancing you will find me playing video games, swimming, spending time with my mom and dad, or fishing with my dad.
I dream of becoming a professional dancer and touring with big name artists. Along the way I want to be an example to other young boys and show them that dance is fun!
Thank You, Joe Tremaine and the rest of the Tremaine faculty for choosing me as the 2016-17, Junior Male Dancer of the Year. I am looking forward to working with everyone at Tremaine this next year, as well as working hard, growing as a dancer and inspiring others.
