Hey! I’m Matthew Deloch and I am 17. I am from a little town in Louisiana, where I live at home with my mom and older brother. If there is one thing you should know about me, it’s that I never give up. I believe that giving up is the easiest way to let yourself and everyone else around you down. Some might call me stubborn, others might say I’m determined, but no matter how it’s said, I see every opportunity as a chance to show the world who I really am.
I began dancing when I was 2 years old and absolutely hated it. Luckily, my mom saw things differently and wouldn’t let me quit. At the age of 7 I started taking classes at Center Stage Performing Arts Academy and my attitude toward dance completely changed. Since then, dance has become my biggest passion in life.
I think it’s safe to say that I am at the dance studio more than I am at my own home. My teachers, Linda Schexnaydre and Meghann King, both push me past my limits everyday. On top of being my second home, the people at Center Stage have become my extended family. The stress-free nature of the studio really encourages learning and has helped me grow on both a professional and personal level.
On the rare occasion that I am not dancing, I like spending time with my friends, watching dance videos, and eating pizza. Pizza is actually my second biggest passion in life.
In December of 2014, I attended my very first Tremaine convention in New Orleans. After seeing the faculty show, I knew that I wanted to be a part of the amazing team I saw, and now I am so honored to have been given this amazing opportunity to represent Tremaine as their 2016-2017 Senior Male Dancer of the Year. Thank you Joe Tremaine for providing such amazing opportunities for me and so many others, thank you Tremaine Staff for pushing me and encouraging me more than I ever could have dreamed, and lastly thank you mom for all the sacrifices you’ve made to ensure that I could follow my dreams. I am so ecstatic and eager to begin this incredible journey and to see what this year brings for me.
