TC'z Dance Studio

Teacher(s) Tonya Soutar

Hello, my name is Brodey Soutar and I am 11 years old. I am also Canadian, and live on a hobby farm in Ontario. I have lots of animals but my three favourite animals are a pot bellied pig named Bacon, a ferret named Jimmy and my cat named Kat. In my spare time I'm a Junior Dragster driver. I like to listen to music and make up routines or freestyle. I have been known to throw down a hat and break dance for donations. At 3 years of age I participated in a Preschool Jazz/Ballet class, but after five months I decided to hang up my dancing shoes.

I am known as a "studio kid" because I would go to my Mom's dance studio and watch. By 8 years of age I was bitten by the dance bug! I decided to put my dancing shoes back on and make dancing my life! Well it's in my blood. I come from a long line of dancers/entertainers and when I'm not at dance class, I'm dancing in my room. My dance teacher, Ms. Tonya, is also my Mom! Being taught by my Mom can be challenging at times but with her love and support all our hard work is paying off. My Dad (Rodney) and older brother (Sky) are very involved at the studio as well. My Dad cuts my music and my brother entertains me with video games in between classes.

I train in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Acrobatics, Hip Hop and Break Dancing three days a week! I can't pick a favourite because I just love to dance. I started competitive dance when I was 9 years old. Tremaine was my favourite convention. The first year of competition was rough. I would watch my fellow teammates get through scholarship round after scholarship round and I would always get cut. This didn't discourage me. It made me more determined to work harder and to be a better teammate. I learned how much dance means to me, l learned how to be happy for other people's successes and that hard work does pay off.

So far in my life, my biggest accomplishment has been to win Dancer Of The Year. I am so excited to dance with TREMAINE!! I have grown up listening to stories about how fantastic his conventions are and that he is an extraordinary person. A special thank you to Mr. Joe Tremaine and his faculty. I plan on making all of you proud. I also look forward to how amazing you're going to make me by the end of the year!!
