Dance Industry Performing Arts

BIO 2005:

My name is Annie Blankenship, and I am fifteen years old. I have been dancing for twelve years, and I can’t imagine being happier doing anything else. I attended my first competition at the age of nine, and it was terrifying. I wasn’t sure if it was something that I wanted to pursue. Now, six years later, I can’t imagine a life without dance. My favorite styles are probably jazz and lyrical. Dance is such an important part of me, not only as a way to express myself, but also it shows that with some dedication, hard work, and a lot of support from family and friends, you can truly achieve anything. There is no way I could have done it without the endless encouragement from my family, and all of my dance teachers. I am currently in my first year of high school where I am in the visual arts magnet. So when I am not dancing or at school, you can probably find me working on some sort of art project. In my free time I like hanging out with friends, going shopping, and designing costumes with my mom, (she makes all the costumes for competition at our studio). I am very excited to have the honor of being named Dancer of the Year, and I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
