DANIEL MASTERSON

Jean Leigh Academy of Dance

BIO 2005:

I began dancing at age seven under the direction of Dianna Jones, at Jean Leigh Academy of Dance in Denham Springs, Louisiana. I am classically trained in ballet and jazz, and have continued my education, on scholarship, at the School of American Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Broadway Dance Center, Steps, and the Edge Performing Arts Center. I’ve also had the opportunity to perform as a guest with companies such as, “Parsons Dance Project,” the “Wes Veldink Movement,” and “IV,” a Dee Caspary production. My industrials include, Daewoo and GM Motors, among others. Under the artistic direction of Hyun-Young Woo and the “Poz Dance Theatre,” in Seoul, Korea, I have also had the opportunity to perform internationally. At the age of 18, after my year as DOTY, I traveled to Innsbruck, Austria, for the 2002 Tanzsommer Dance Festival, where I taught master classes and performed, making his international choreographic debut. I also had the privilege of being on the faculty of the 2004-05 American Artistic Awards and plan to move to Los Angeles this year. Thanks to Joe for the many years of learning and inspiration!
