"Star Teachers" this year
including Joe Tremaine
at their 3rd Annual
Legacy Awards & Holiday Luncheon
Sunday, December 11, 2011, in New York City
The third annual DO40 Legacy Awards was a huge event. This year they honored the teachers – those who have schooled US in the art of dance, and prepared us for what was to come. Honorees included Luigi, Phil Black, Bella Malinka, Frank Pietri and Joe Tremaine. A posthumous award was given to Jerry Ames. Presenting guests included director/choreographers Susan Stroman, Graciela Daniele (DO40 Advisory Board member), Lynne Taylor-Corbett, as well as a guest appearance by Danielle Brisebois, along with some surprise guests (and students of these wonderful honorees)!
Dancers Over 40, Inc. was created as a not-for-profit organization to provide a community of support in response to the fiscal - as well as physical - needs of mature dancers, choreographers and related artists. Their goals are to seek educational opportunities, present seminars, socials and panel discussions on topics important to mature dancers concerned about their ability to continue to live and work in a creative environment and continue the legacy to those dancers about to begin their journey.
