PAT DOUGLAS

National Tour Director

Pat is originally from Los Angeles, California, a second generation Angelino and the newest member of our administrative team. She began dancing at age seven when her mother started her in ballet classes. However, she never planned to pursue a career in dance until she was around 19 or 20, when she says she fell hopelessly in love with dance and also found she could make a living at it. During her dance career, she appeared on the television series, The Love BoatMidnight Special, the game show Fantasywith hosts Peter Marshalland Leslie Uggams, and Pat was the first African-American model on The Price Is Right! She also appeared in television variety specials including: The Barry Manilow SpecialLinda Carter’sCelebration, an NBC Children’s Program Special, an NBC Fall Preview Special with Nell CarterMotown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever (as a singer with the Motown group Hi Inergy, as well as a dancer on the show)and on the Academy Awards. However, she has by no means limited her career to the United States.

Pat has also appeared on international television shows and series such as Rissatissima in Rome, on Televisa in Mexico City, three to four times per year and on the summer G.B. Show in Italy, as a guest dancer dancing with choreographers Carlton Johnson & Clyde Barrett. She has also appeared in the motion pictures The Blues Brothers with John BelushiGoing Berserk with John Candy and Eugene Levy, and Doctor Detroit with Dan Aykroyd, as well as performances on tour with Cher in Las Vegas and to Australia in Melbourne & Sydney. She has also sung with and for many international stars on various Italian variety shows including the Rafaella Carra Show, at music festivals in San Remo, Montecatini Serata and San Vincente, as well as touring with the number one Italian artist Tullio De Piscopo for two years through all of ItalyMaltaSpainCanada, and Australia. Then, as a choreographer, she has worked with The Pointer Sisters and on the game show Fantasy here in the U.S. and in Italy she has worked on commercials for Nastro Azzurro, Evviva and the Il Sandro Raimondo Show.

There are three legendary educators that Pat had the chance to study dance with and she would like to acknowledge them here: 1.) Roland Dupree with his Jack Cole style that was a very true style that she loved – not to mention she loved the music he used in class! 2.) Joe Bennett with his beautifully lyrical style that required musical understanding, technique and control – imagine dancing to rhythms of 9-9-11-13 – talk about having to count! 3.) Joe Tremaine, whose classes were fun from beginning to end – she loved the warm up, the across the floor and the combinations that were too much fun – she says he managed to work you to death to his always slammin’ music and you loved every minute of it!

In addition to her experience as a Production Coordinator for several production companies in Hollywood, including Limelight and Palomar Pictures Corporation, in the past few years Pat has been working in the corporate world as a meeting planner and coordinator of special events. However Pat’s proudest achievement is of being a Leukemia survivor for more than 30 years! We are excited to have Pat on our team and we know you will admire and respect her as much as we do.
