Bluffton School of Dance

Growing up in Wyckoff, New Jersey, Dawn Rosa was a student and company dancer at In the Spotlight, studying under Tom & Jane Karaty, Janice Barringer, Lisa Danias, Candice Mancini and Dan Karaty. This was a wonderful introduction to the world of dance and nurtured Dawn’s love of the art.

It was 1996 at the girls only “home away from home” Summer Camp Nyoda, in Oakridge, NJ, where Dawn received her first dance instruction job. That Summer, at the young age of 15, Dawn fell in love with the prospect of dance education and began the dream of owning her own dance studio, allowing her to share her love of dance with others.

In 2002, Dawn graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clemson University with a BA in Psychology. In March of 2002, just before graduation (and right before her commitment was due to graduate school), Dawn took the risk of a lifetime and visited a small dance studio owned by a close friend’s older sister just outside of Hilton Head Island. Shortly after, Dawn convinced her family that she could get a loan, purchase that dance studio in the unknown small town of Bluffton, South Carolina, and make it work.

Since then, the Bluffton School of Dance has almost tripled in size, and Dawn’s Company dancers have gone on to dance at Joffrey NYC, Carnival Cruise Lines, Loyola Marymount University, Winthrop University, University of Georgia, University of South Carolina, Rockette Intensives, Tap into the Network and have received numerous scholarships at various Conventions and the Edge Performing Arts Center.

With March 2013 marking her 10 year anniversary as a studio owner, Dawn is beyond honored to be named the 2012-2013 Tremaine Teacher of the Year. Joe Tremaine and his faculty have been so amazing over the years in helping her dancers grow in a positive and encouraging environment. Dawn and the entire Bluffton School of Dance look forward to growing and improving alongside Tremaine Dance Conventions for many years to come!!
