LISA MORDENTE
Dance Styles: SPECIALTY CLASSES
Tony Award Nominee, Drama Desk Award Nominee, Dancer, Singer, Actor, Choreographer, Producer, Director

Lisa was born in New Hyde Park, New York, the daughter of two Broadway greats, Chita Rivera and Tony Mordente.  We’ll also mention here, a man that was like a second father to Lisa, choreography legend, Bob Fosse.  Now with “credentials” like that, you can’t help but become at the very least, a dancer.  Well, let’s just say big things come in small packages.  This petite “triple threat plus” (dancing, singing, acting, choreography, producing, directing, etc.) brings with her such credits as a Tony Award Nomination for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Emilia in the Original Broadway Cast of “Marlow” and a Drama Desk Award Nomination for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Crystal Mason in the Original Broadway Cast of “Platinum.”  Her credits also include the National Tour of “Gypsy” with Angela Lansbury in which she played Agnes.  She has performed the roles of Rizzo in “Grease” and Anita in “West Side Story” both at the Burt Reynolds Theatre and was directed by Tommy Tune in “Sunset” at the Studio Arena in New York where she portrayed Crystal.  Lisa has also been seen on television in such shows as “Welcome Back Kotter,” in which she had a recurring role, was a series regular on “Doc” and “Viva Valdez” and has guest starred on many shows including “Starsky & Hutch.”  Her choreography credits include - Executive Choreographer of “Sister Act” the movie, Co-Choreographer with Tony Award Winner Wayne Cilento on the Broadway production of “The Who’s Tommy,” staging and choreography for Liza Minelli at Radio City,” Co-Director and Choreographer for the European Tour of Earth Wind & Fire, as well as directing and choreographing “The Rink” at the Pasadena Playhouse, as Assistant Director/Choreographer with Wayne Cilento on the Universal Studios Theme Park live show “Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue” and on “The Rocky Horror Show” at the Tiffany Theatre.  Since Joe Tremaine’s lifelong and close friend is her mom, Chita Rivera, Lisa has grown up as a member of the Tremaine family from day one and joyously welcome her as a special member of our faculty!
