West Side Performing Arts

BIO 2005:

After my year as DOTY in 1998, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a professional dancer. My first gig was in Las Vegas, opening for the 1998 International Ballroom Competition. In 1999, I was one of four backup dancers for Jessica Simpson on the 98 Degrees Heat It Up National Tour. I assisted Jen Ballard for four years and did company work for her, Dee Caspary and Mia Michaels in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and New York City. I also performed in various shows for Kelly Divine, Alex Magno and Travis Payne, including the American Choreography Awards in 2001. In 2000, I danced for Toni Braxton in her music video "He Wasn't Man Enough," and performed with her again in the BET 20th Anniversary Special. That year I also appeared in Mandy Moore's music video "I Wanna Be With You" and Shaggy's "Shake your Body." In the year 2000, I also married my wonderful husband, Rick Maliwanag, and we live in Burbank, CA raising our two beautiful children, Robert and Annabelle. As for dance, I teach private dance lessons out of my home and substitute teach in some of the local dance studios. I still take classes myself on occasion but my primary focus is on my family. Thank you Joe Tremaine for my experience, and congratulations on your 25th Anniversary! Tremaine will always have a special place in my heart and in my memory
